Exercise 7

Watch the video ‘Lesson 7 – Celebrate Your Success’, then let’s celebrate your success with these 5-minute exercises…

7.1 – Aim high and focus small

For those of you who like to aim high, there is often a risk that whilst paying attention to the big wins, you might fail to celebrate the small but significant triumphs can also play a massive part in moving things forward. Take time on a regular basis to reflect on your small successes and take note of what approach and actions helped. Learning from the small successes can give vital clues to how to make a big impact with the more significant projects. Make this a regular practice.

7.2 – Celebration Zone

Highly motivated teams and individuals are in the habit of recognising their breakthroughs, successes and wins on a regular basis. Motivation can be fuelled by celebrating the successes you create individually or as part of a team. Collect growing evidence of your wins to remind yourself of your capability. Make a habit of celebrating the triumphs. Make sure to shout it out and keep a record. One way to do this is to create a triumph board or an awesome jar as a visible reminder. Pin up or collect your successes on a triumph board. Keep them visible to motivate you and remind you to keep being outstanding.

7.3 – Be your own cheerleader

On tough days, finding even one achievement you are proud of can be a massive challenge

and a powerful way to cheerlead yourself. Ask yourself; ‘what am I doing well at? What should

I be proud of? How am I making a difference? Whilst feedback and compliments from others is hugely helpful, cheerleading yourself can also be hugely impactful.

Become your biggest fan by recording 3-5 things about yourself which you are proud of on a post-it note. Make time to update this and read it regularly, especially when your self-belief is challenged.

7.4 – Reward yourself

When your hard efforts pay off, reward yourself and anyone who helped you to achieve this. A simple act of self-support and recognition to help you stay on track.

Write a list of five ways to say well done that will motivate you. This could be anything from a favourite snack, a new purchase, treating yourself to an activity you love, etc…
