So a new chapter opened up unexpectedly. I woke up to the idea that it was an opportunity for self-discovery. I’ve always been good at this! Life had already given me a few tough lessons, all opportunities to strengthen my resilience bucket!
When change is imposed upon us unexpectedly and you didn’t predict or expect it, You didn’t choose it and when it’s not in your control, this creates quite a challenge for any of us. Part of the challenge for me (the practical part) was that life turned life upside down for a short while – my living situation, my finances, my family situation and my work situation. It was sink or swim!
My job was to create a whole new life for me and my family, and really dig deep to tap to find my resilience in order to re-anchor myself. I had to create a way to thrive in the face of it, to action everything I already knew about being healthy, and continuing to allow adventure and possibility in my life. A perfect opportunity to recognise your capability for true grit. It’s a reminder you already have the resources within you to deal with all you are faced with.
Circumstances forced me to dig deep and use my ability for humour, and my ability to focus on the solution. Fast forwarding past the problem and planning for that. I was reminded the pain we experience when life gets tough is called ‘the pain of learning’ It helps you grow. My biggest discovery was that sometimes rock bottom isn’t such a hard place. It’s simply a springboard to help you bounce upwards and forwards.
Life doesn’t get any easier, we just get stronger!
My advice to you – Build your resilience.
Change what you can, accept what you cannot in order to strengthen your mental fitness muscle to protect you from incoming missiles. Work out what it would mean to boost your bounce back ability
