Mindset matters! Choosing a mindset to strengthen and uplift me was one of the best workouts I’ve had to train myself for. It conditions you to be better, not bitter. I guess my circumstances gifted me the opportunity to put this into practice and to exercise my mindset muscle.

I’ve observed how easy it is to feel like a victim when your circumstances change or when other people’s choices, decisions and actions leave you feeling powerless. When something happens and you didn’t choose it, plan it or predict it but it happens against your wishes anyway. We have all had this experience and it feels at the time like an injustice

You have to weed out the fixed mindset before it grows roots. It’s about pressing stop, hitting reset, and restoring to factory setting. You can create a blank canvas and decide what world view or perspective you want to try on till you can see which one is a good fit for you. This is how I chose to view this chapter as my perfect storm.

I decided in the longer term I would look back knowing I had actually dodged a bullet; this new chapter was going to open new doors and create new possibilities. I told myself events would allow me to leave behind what was not serving me well in that moment.

I adopted the belief that my adversity would bring the opportunity for lessons to be learned (even though I didn’t know what I would learn).This ‘pain of learning’ would nurture my growth and my strength of character.

My advice to you – Choose Your Mindset!

This growth mindset is the lens through which I chose to see my world. Like a muscle, I’ve had to flex and strengthen positive thinking in order to make it my reality.
